Living Loudly. Dying to be Heard: Perspectives on

Living Loudly. Dying to be Heard: Perspectives on Advanced Breast Cancer officially launched on World Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness, 13th October.
This campaign by AstraZeneca and supported by the Marie Keating Foundation brings attention to the unique experiences of those living with advanced breast cancer that can sometimes be overlooked.
This exhibition aims to change perceptions.
Featuring portraits and stories of eight women across Ireland: Dr Tonya Leonard, Cynthia Cosme Cravo, Aine Murphy, Joy Keating, Barbara King, Fiona Dowd, Aileen O’ Connor, and Hazel Fleming. 7 of whom are from the Marie Keating Foundations Positive Living Community.
Their stories span different regions, backgrounds and experiences, from navigating healthcare as an immigrant to living with neurodiversity alongside cancer. What unites them is their determination to be heard and their insistence that the realities of living with advanced breast cancer cannot be ignored. While some need practical support and others additional emotional support, all are calling for their voices and experiences to be recognised.
Entry is free. The exhibition runs this weekend 9am -7pm Sat 17th and Sun 18th of October and is located on Level 1, outside Brown Thomas, Dundrum Town Centre. For more information about the campaign visit

@shawsdepartmentstores are supporting the Marie Keating Foundation’s Pink Patron campaign by inviting customers to donate €1 at the till across all 17 stores nationwide from 5th to 31st October.
Throughout the campaign, Shaws will host a range of activities across its stores, including a Wear Pink to Work initiative to help raise awareness and funds. Customers can learn more about breast cancer through information and resources available in store, purchase campaign merchandise, and make donations at various points throughout the shopping experience.
In addition, Shaws’ specialist bra fitters are available in every store to provide expert advice and support to women following breast cancer surgery, further demonstrating the company’s commitment to supporting those affected by cancer.

Our Advanced Breast Cancer Awareness Day Seminar w

Our Advanced Breast Cancer Awareness Day Seminar was held yesterday at the beautiful Richmond Educate and Events Centre. The theme this year was the Psycho-social and emotional impact of living with an advanced cancer.
It was a day full of education, advice, honest reflection, connection, and community. There were so many important subjects covered and valuable conversations had on the physical, emotional, and financial impact of advanced cance, what resources are available and what resources are sorely needed. As always the patient voice and needs were at the heart of this event.
We are so thankful to all our incredible speakers, panelists, community, attendees and all those who helped bring this important and very special day together.
A special acknowledgement needs to go to our Director of Nursing Helen Forristal who leads on our survivorship services and is the driving force behind this event and Fiona our Survivorship coordinator who is by her side supporting.
We could not create events like this without our sponsors and ABC Day was kindly supported by @astrazeneca , @msdinvents , @novartisireland and Pfizer Ireland .

Around 1 in 8 breast cancers are triple negative i

Around 1 in 8 breast cancers are triple negative in Ireland. Triple Negative Breast Cancer is more common in younger women occurring most frequently in women between the ages of 40-50.
Irrespective of stage at TNBC diagnosis it is known to have the lowest survival rate of all breast cancer subtypes.
Please remember it is important to see your GP if you notice anything different or unusual about the look and feel of your breasts.
