Reflections of “Survive and Thrive”

I signed up for a course to help me heal,
To get my mojo back and maybe even feel
A little less wobbly, a little more grand—
Turns out I joined the loveliest crew in the land.

The facilitators beamed with patience and grace,
Smiling kindly as we struggled to keep up with the pace.
They praised our action plans (even if only half-done),
And somehow made every small victory really fun.

As for the cancer survivors—these fabulous queens,
Braving treatments, side effects, and everything in between.
We spoke of our scars, both hidden and in view,
And spluttered and cried…but that was ok too.

The first sessions for me were very emotionally triggering,
Sniffling and wobbling and my voice flickering,
But week after week, it got easier to cope,
And soon I couldn’t wait to dial in, full of chatter and hope.

Every week felt like meeting friends at a… café,
(If cafés served trauma-talk in a cheerful way!).
We staged interventions, we vented, we cried.
Supporting each other with virtual hugs that stretched far and wide.

(As for The TOOLBOX…..)
ah the toolbox the toolbox…Oi…
No slagging off Col’s pride & joy!
She’d whip it out at every chance,
Full of laminated wisdom -all available at a handy glance!

As for Yvonne’s brainstorming sessions—ah, sure, sometimes responses were awfully slow…
But once our brain fog lifted, eventually the ideas would flow.
Not forgetting Fiona’s admin efficiency, sharp and lean,
These 3 together kept everything running like a well-oiled machine.

So would I recommend it? Absolutely—without hesitation,
It’s a glorious whirlwind of healing and inspiration.
And…If all you gain is laughter and joy from your mighty hive,
Then trust me, my friend, you’ve already thrived.
