The Marie Keating Foundation are saddened to hear of the passing of the wonderful, warm and powerful advocate for lung cancer awareness Deirdre Staunton.

 

Deirdre spent some time with our positive living community and also shared her story with and for us as part of our Lung Cancer Awareness Campaign in 2022 and gave permission for us to share her powerful personal story once again this year to continue to support awareness of lung cancer and change peoples perceptions of people with lung cancer.  Deirdre wanted to do all she could to support others and lent her voice publicly to support change and inspire others to seek support and listen to their bodies.

Her warmth, wisdom and incredible sense of humour made her such a privilege to meet & know. Those of us lucky enough to meet her will remember her fondly and feel her passing deeply. She was a very special woman.

Our thoughts are with her husband Chris, children Meadhbh, Eoghan and Conor and all of her extended family and friends.

Thinking also of her friends in The Irish Lung Cancer Community where she found such a supportive community.
