The Marie Keating Foundation launches campaign to turn up the heat on cancer
With summer in full swing, celebrity chef Rory O’Connell launched the Marie Keating Foundation’s BBQ to Beat Cancer campaign, kindly sponsored by Flogas. The Marie Keating Foundation is asking people nationwide to become a BBQ Hero by hosting a fundraising BBQ in aid of its men’s cancer programmes and services. By registering for a free fundraising pack, BBQ Heroes will receive a chef’s hat, posters, invitations, balloons, a Ballymaloe Foods recipe booklet, and a Ballymaloe Foods coupon. For more information and to register, see www.mariekeating.ie/bbq.
Speaking at the launch, Rory O’Connell, who co-founded Ballymaloe Cookery School alongside his sister Darina Allen, said, “Each year in Ireland, about 37,000 cases of cancer are diagnosed and more men than women are affected. However, we can come together to raise funds to help beat this disease. BBQs are a fun way to do this and they can be healthy too. We have provided you with lots of great recipes to get you started, so register for your BBQ to Beat Cancer pack now and tell cancer to ‘burger off.’”
Also speaking at the launch was Linda Keating, Director of Fundraising, the Marie Keating Foundation, who said, “I love BBQs because they bring everyone together. The Marie Keating Foundation’s BBQ to Beat Cancer campaign is a brilliant idea because it doesn’t matter when you host your BBQ, how many people you invite or whether you are a good cook. All that matters is that you are bringing your friends, family or colleagues together to turn up the heat on cancer.”
The Marie Keating Foundation’s BBQ to Beat Cancer campaign is kindly supported by Flogas.
