The Oncology Waiting Room Refurbishment Programme

Launch of garden at St James Hospital May 2006
The refurbishment of Hospital Oncology waiting rooms has been a dream of the Marie Keating Foundation since the inception of the foundation. Marie Keating sat on a plastic chair in a corridor sometimes for up to 4 hours waiting on her bloods results before being administered her Chemotherapy. We don’t want anyone else to have the same experience.
Where the need arises the foundation has the Oncology waiting rooms repainted, provides comfortable chairs, TV’s, Stereos, Magazines, coffee machines and whatever else is needed to make it more comfortable in anyway to make their time go a bit quicker and more relaxed while waiting to see the Doctor.

Launch of the waiting room at Sligo General Hospital
To date the Foundation has refurbished the Oncology waiting room in St. Vincents Hospital, the treatment waiting room also in St. Vincents, we have transformed the garden waiting area of the Breast Care Unit in St. James Hospital and the Oncology waiting room of Sligo General Hospital. Some of these waiting rooms are still under reconstruction as we wait on materials and get approval from the Hospital authorities.
This is another project that will continue as the need arises.
